“Nursery Pagers are designed to provide peace of mind and comfort to parents, allowing them to confidently engage in everyday activities whilst their loved ones are being cared for in a nursery. If a problem does arise, they can be discreetly and immediately notified.”
Nursery Pager Systems today are utilized by a variety of organizations, predominantly churches and creches. The use of nursery paging can also be increasingly found available in gyms, malls and workplaces.
So How Do Nursery Pagers Work?
The initial nursery pager system, widely used for churches, involved the use of an electronic LCD display. Effectively, parents would drop their child or children in to the church creche, and be given a number. This number would be displayed on the LCD display if there was a matter in the creche that required the attention of the parent. Not a discreet solution and often embarssing for the parents.
Now, most nursery pagers currently on the market use a wireless radio network, via the UHF frequency range, to communicate between the pager and the base station. A parent will be given a pager unit, and if they need to be notified, a signal is sent from the base station by a creche worker. The pager that the parent has been given will receive this signal and respond with a subtle vibration, beep or flashing light (or even a combination of the former).
The range of nursery pagers can be up to several hundred feet, depending on obstacles that may interfere with the radio frequency, such as concrete walls. Nursery pager units are similar, if not identical, to those used in restaurant operations, and are typically made by the same manufacturer.
SMS Nursery Pagers
A relatively new introduction to nursery paging, but probably the future of paging, this system utilizes your existing mobile phone, and eliminates the need to carry a pager. Rather than be handed a number or pager when handing over your child, the nursery worker simply notes down your mobile phone number. If any problem arises, the message or call is sent straight to your mobile phone.
